It was doable but the swell was up and surge was pretty strong. Vis was about 6 feet. I went with the intention of divingFri/Sat but it isn't supposed to calm down until Sunday so I grabbed my abs and came home. I got a 9" that was very thick. It was as tall as the longer abs I usually see at the competitions. There will be some big steaks from that one.

Nice Merv, but it sounds like a surf trip was more in order  :smt003

Even though a south swell at 3-4 ft seems small, that 15 second period means it packed some punch.

I've been waiting for some swell for a  month, and now I'm stuck in Seattle when it finally comes through.

I'll be trying to dive next weekend if you can get up to the coast.

My brother is getting married next weekend so I won't be diving.

Sorry we didn't catch you up there Merv. We stayed out of the ocean until Monday. I took the lad out for his first time diving diving off Noyo Harbor and he did well. No abs for him on this trip but he got out there - on and off his yak a few times - dove down and did some sightseeing and didn't freak out. Said he'd do it again, so I'm checking it off as a successful first run. I took three abs - but nothing to write home about.

We spent the rest of the weekend mountain biking the redwoods, paddling up the Noyo, and generally screwing off. Good times.
