Just drove by the santa cruz harbor (9/1) and they just closed the ramp.  Breaking waves across the mouth.  Capitola has breaking waves hitting the beach hard, New Brighton looks like Limekiln.  But the most accurate swell indicator; my wife teaches and all her serious surfers are AWOL  :surf

might be a good WAF weekend.  Or inland  :smt003

Ya that south swell really screws up SC harbor. Pretty big south rolling in right now.

I heard the same thing, but none of the forecast sites are upping their forecasts.   ???

Rey,

The Marina area doesn't look good for today and tomorrow. 8.9 ft every 9 seconds.  It seems the swells are gone on Saturday 8/3.

Thats good to know.  Guess I can feel solid about sticking around Sacramento.  At least this time of the year we have a lot of big fishies coming through the system so we can compete with the salties.

Mel,
Thanks.  I guess I will be at work tomorrow then.  Have you decided for Sunday?

Conditiopns are rapidly improving - Sun/Mon looks really good. Promised I'd show a newb the ins and out of yak fishing in SC or Capitola, but if he flakes I'm looking at SMC for Sunday

I'm planning on going diving Saturday somewhere in the carmel/monterey area...exact spot will be determined by swell size..

Looks like the area should be doable....confident I can find a sheltered spot somewhere down there!

Saturday: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming W around 6 kt. Patchy fog before 11am. Mixed swell...NW 3 to 4 ft and SW 4 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Jim

I was hoping to dive but maybe I'll shoot up to the Freedive shop to buy some new Foot Pockets instead, mine are starting to rip.

Check the surf report before you go. I surfed this morning at privates in Capitola. It was waist to head high breaking all the way to new Brighton.  The Capitola were not being launched today. Be careful with a newbie  out there.
