Back by popular demand, I will do another gold panning hookup.  We will meet at the same place in Weimar, on the south side of 80 @ Weimar cross rd. I would say 8:00 am should be good.  We will need to carpool as much as possible because the place we are going in to does not have much for parking, and it is a narrow road. The spot we are going is called Yankee Jim Rd, and there is better gold here than at the Colfax outing. I would say that there would be room for about five vehicles to park at the bridge, and a little more up and down the road, but might be a pretty good walk to get back to the river. Great little beach to hang at, an awesome suspeded cable bridge overhead that sounds like it is going to fall everytime a truck goes across it, and of course, GOLD!

I have a 4-door Tacoma that I could fit another 3 in. I plan on taking the wife on this outing if that is cool? Also can carry whatever is needed in the back of the truck.

Yankee Jim's Bridge - North Fork American River (ii)
Placer County, California

This is California gold country made famous by the Gold Rush of 1849! The 150± foot long, one-lane steel cable suspension bridge was constructed circa 1929 to serve as a reliable all-season link between the gold towns of Colfax, Yankee Jims and Foresthill, California. Cables are anchored into bedrock and supported by short steel towers resting on stone masonry piers at each end of the structure. Current load limit is 3 tons.

Even on the day I shot this photograph, there were miners still working their dredges, sluice boxes and gold pans for the valuable placer gold that still exists in the hills and waters of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Gold seekers are warned to obey posted mining claims and private property. No claim jumpers allowed!

I might go for a night or two at the Bear Creek campgrounds right next to it. Anyone else? Nice camping, right next to the river...

But camping at Bear is still close enough.
