Bill, how do you pull the end of the anchor rope back to you?  Do you lean back and unclip?  How about a tag line to the cockpit to pull the end to you for an easy unclip?

I would add to use a good float on the end.  I had a small boat bumper on mine and in the higher current flows, it got pulled under.  I haven't heard of you guys having problems with the crap floats.

So the bungie is light enough to float on its own. The bungie with the trigger clip attached to it does sink a bit but I don't release that one. You just paddle back over the bungie and snap it back on.

Ahhh ... so you just release the bungee on your end via the trigger clip and it gets pulled through the carabiner thus freeing it.  Got it.

BTW, are those the brass trigger clips?  I've never had problems with the brass ones rusting.  Of course I rinse everything well after every use.

I don't like the idea of the bungee swinging free and having to retrieve it while on a fish.  I'd rather be paying attention to the fish.   I'm sure someone here can suggest an improvement to avoid that little hassle.

The anchor system looks great! I saw one of your last pictures were you have the sysem in motion and noticed your homemade sturgeon snare. Where do you purchase the one piece of metal hardware at the handle part. thanks

When the Lord takes your sins, you never see them again. He casts them into the depths of the sea, forgiven and forgotten. I even believe that He places a sign over them that reads no fishing allowed.

Hey pondsurk you can get them from here:

http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/37-186-clothes-drying/clothesline-tightener-177733.aspx

I think I have one extra if ya want it, the shipping on that site is a bear, $3.49 for the part then like $5 shipping. We could not find a good source locally.

Send me a PM with your address and I will send it over, assuming I still have one.

Instructions are in Eric's great sturgeon article on the main page.
