It used to be one of my favorite until I found where all parasite concentrate I was so disgusted, has anyone noticed that one side under the gill has hundreds of worms? or is it just me?

I usually kill all the parasites off in a steamy foil bath of of butter, white pepper, celery salt and white wine......works just fine for me.  :smt001

PS....I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you start inspecting all the fillets/caracasses of the carnivorous fish we catch. :smt003

Hummmm.... Remember that tasty halibut?  :smt044  I've found them in every Hali i've caught!  Now, if I see a TON of worms on the thing when I hook em', i'll send em back or put them out of their misery...  But dont worry about seeing a few here and there, just dont eat them raw without freezing and you will be FINE!  :smt002

I've found worms in all species, especially big fat lingcod and large halibut. Just part o' nature buddy. Cook 'em well and you are fine. I pick them out of the fillet if I can, but you never get them all.

I posted the same thing up a couple weeks ago regarding the halibut i caught.  They tend to stay around the stomach area and gills. Clean out those area's well, freeze, and grill completely.

Parasites on gills don't bother me that much since I remove the gills during cleaning. What gets to me is finding worms in the belly flesh. If I only see 1, I just pick it out with the tip of my knife. If I see the belly is loaded, I give the fish to the seagulls or fur bags circling the cleaning station.

And I never eat my catches raw.

I don't care how many worms are in the fish, there's no way I'm gonna kill it and then just throw it away...

Just the way I am.

Sincerely,

Jim

I can almost guarantee any restraurant meal will have more disgusting things in them.  Not to mention fast food.

I'll take worms over pubes, lips and peckers any day
