3 of us left Grand Marina in Alameda around 0830 in the morning. At 0930 we stopped about 2 miles short of Rocky Pt. and dropped in. We were using 1 crowbar with the lead release with a good size hering/30 pull, 1 with the WM Apex 40' OTW and 1 with Red FBR 25' OTW. We were fishing in 55' of h2o. At around 1030 we had a take down on the crowbar and soon became a double WM Apex rod went off. Landed both fish and they were about 20 lbs. Worked the area till noon with no other hit.
We picked up and ran to Dux bouy. Dropped in about 1/2 mile from the can and in 15 minutes we had another take down on the crowbar again. This fish peeled some line big time, finally brought him next to the boat and into the net. A 25 lbs beauty with plenty of pink meat. Trolled the area for another 45 minutes and picked up another fish on the green cripple anchovie.
We started trolling towards Rocky Pt. and halfway there, the rod with the green cripple anchovie went off again, this time my buddy fought the fish and as he was getting close to the boat, he did the unthinkable, spit the hook. That was it for us today. Hooked 5 and landed 4, not bad day at all. 4 fish caught using Green label hering and 1 on the WM Apex. Here are some few videos. Good Luck out there.
