Hey Guys,

So my garden is going nuts this year, I have zucchini, summer squash, hot peppers, and tomatoes coming out of my ears. Any NCKA'er interested in a barter for other foods and/or/fishing/kayaking stuff?  Hell, if you have nothing worth bartering, come by and take some anyways! I live in the Hercules/Rodeo area. Once you've had tomatoes from the garden you will never want to eat a store bought one again, no pesticides all natural!  I figure this offer will be good until sometime in November the way things are shaping up. The habaneros aren't quite ripe yet, but I imagine they will be ready in their full fiery glory in the next month or so as well.

Fiver, if i lived closer, i'd be all over it.  I just bushwacked an armload of french sorrel that I planted earlier this summer.  Tangy, tender, and grows like a weed, loving the backyard victory garden!

I hear ya,

instead of planting sod in the backyard, I bought a mantas tiller for the boys and let them go crazy... First we had the gas powered, so they could learn about 2 strokes engines. Then Mantas offers a exchange for the electric version if you do it with in a year... The electric kicks ass!!!  so much so they have only taken out 2 pvc pipes and 1 electrical conduit for the pool.... :smt012

pretty cool though, we've got a 8x12 green house and everything is going crazy. Just got through building a 12x3x3 redwood koi pond, now there is an expense!!! I had no idea how much koi cost, were on feeder goldfish at the moment...

I live pretty close by in El Sobrante, I would love to bring the boys by and let them see how you do things and visa versa....

  Kool post....  :smt004

Numba Wun Exta Laaaage - I know what you mean, I avoid the south bay like the plague, because anytime I travel that way, traffic inevitably makes it an all day event. Feel free to hit me up if you swing by my way sometime though.

Danglin - You're my hero, that was what my ultimate goal for the backyard was, kind of a zen japanese garden complete with the koi pond.

I have the worst luck with 2 cycle. So much so that everything I've bought 2 cycle/4 cycle to this point ( lawn mower, 3 week wackers, tiller) have crapped out.  I finally said to the hell with it, now have battery powered lawnmower and line trimmer, and electric tiller and could not be happier.

Bring the boys by.  I don't have a cool koi pond or greenhouse, but I have an enclosed play yard with a play structure, and a garden that looks more like a small forest.  I'm sure my youngster would get a kick out of checking out the goldfish in your pond.  I remember years ago that we stocked my friends bathtub with some bluegill and bass for a while.....good times!

Post some pics when you get a chance, I'd love to see it.

AWESOME POST!!!!! Wish I could grow a garden, but a paved patio in a rental condo isn't quite ideal.

You could always build a plantar box. Thats what I did since the yard has so much clay that its hard to grow in.
