And something I just found in an old shoebox of photos....and scanned today. This image has been lost for a long time...ie 35 years!

July 25th, 1973 200 yards East of the Del Monte wharf [MBK]. Calm, pretty good visability....
He was a huge one ie. 4 feet and about 50 lbs.
I got him freediving with a small swimaster speargun w/ 2 bands. Sleigh ride lasted quite a while.

Hey,
Who are you calling an old fart?
Thanks.

I have just relized that I am now trying to top my experiences as a kid when I had no money and the worst gear imagineable.
In fact all I ever had as a consolation was lotsa big fish catches.

Pacific halibut, roughly 35#
Pacific City, Oregon - Aug 27th, '09
Had to let it go as it was about a week and a half after the quotas were met.  :smt011

Yes, I know. Having it laying here, alive and unsecured, was a recipe for disaster in many ways. But hey, it worked out luckily.
