I'll try fishing in HMB - mainly because this is less travel- Thursday morning and any tip and suggestion are welcome as I don't know the area. I'm looking for Ling and Rockfish.

Cheers,

Zelda:
If you check the hookup section, there will be a few of us there Thursday morning launching @ 7am.  We'll be trying for salmon and WSB, so RF and lings will be a bycatch for us.  RF and lings are pretty much same strategy all along the norcal coast.  I haven't fished for RF/lings @ HMB, but i'm sure others will chime in.  We'll be on Ch. 69.

Great! I'll follow the posts and be there! Given I never fished for flaties and WSB, where can I find out the needed setup?

For salmon, you'll need a barbless circle hook with flouro leader and some tray bait.  I use the same setup hoping for wsb or halibut if it doesn't hook a salmon. Nothing fancy. If u do internet search or on ncka, there's RSK, deepdiver, and other setups for salmon.

They say shiny tackle spook wsb, so go with black hooks, swivel (no shiny stuff).
Hope u get some good advice from others- as i skunked last year on wsb and had only one halibut and salmon each in 2010.
See u there!

Be sure to read all the salmon regulations if your going to target them.  These are great tips, however if you use more than one rod and catch a salmon, it wont be legal to keep  :smt119
