The shark looked so sad in the picture.........

Who the hell picks up a live shark out of the surf anyway? And then says he caught it??

I'm still walking, so I'm sure that I can dance...

I believe we're dealing with a rare species. The douchithicus baguramus are rarely seen in these parts.

From Tom Stienstra's SFGate.com article.  I spose if Stienstra says its a whitey, its a whitey.   :jerk:

Shark tales

Pacifica great white: In one of the strangest episodes ever reported, a juvenile great white shark was caught (and released) by accident by a surf fisherman in Pacifica. Andres Mendivil cast out a 1-ounce lure for striped bass in the surf zone shallows and hooked something giant instead. It ripped off 60 yards of line, but Mendivil managed to land the shark after 10 minutes, and after a photo (the shark was extremely uncooperative, he said), released it into the surf. From the photo, I'd estimate it at about 40 pounds.

Stienstra is probably smoking too much of his "medical marijuana."

It's a salmon shark, even the original article cites local scientists ID.......

Every year a few wash up on our local beaches.

agreed. Looks like Tom fell victim to the dark side of journalism ie: drama over research

Makes me wonder if he has a ghost writer.  That someone of his experience would make that mistake seems implausable.
