Do most of you guys make your own replacement bands or buy them pre-made? If you make them where do you get your materials and steps used to make.

All of the above have everything you need at a great price. I would be happy to help you. You can get good tutorial videos on youtube. I'm going to be making some more soon for my new gun.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

i buy bulk 3/4 rubber online and tie my own with whipping twine and dacron line (wishbones) from west marine. buying them pre tied is expensive and my guns are all beat up and old but the bands are good and strong.

the only thing i order is the rubber while everything else is available at west marine.

^^^ Good advice...teach a man to fish and he'll eat for life.  Making a band is actually easy once your have your basics covered..constrictor knot. dyneema wishbones, right diam./lenght tubing..ect ect.  Learn and become self sufficient...and enjoy what you've learned.

shark_bait will be making his own bands, just ordered some stuff from Mako.  His Mares gun uses a 3/4 tube that has a threaded articulated wishbone.  On the advice of more than one person, he has decided to ditch the articulated WB but cannot use dyneema as his spear shreds them.  He ordered a wire WB and will attempt to build it into the gun.

My notched shaft ate a dynema wishbone so I took a small rat tail file to it and didn't have anymore issues with it.

Neptonics (neptonicsystems.com)also has all the band making stuff, plus they're local.

Like Art said... a round file, some abrasive cord, or a dremel would make short work out of those sharp edged notches.

Even using SS wire wishbones, the sharp notches start to kink up.
