I am interested in getting in on this if its what we want. Is there restrictions on the use of the property? Buildings and such. Water? Would it be possible to drill a well. If there is no access currently by way of road.,does it stay that way? Sounds pretty cool.

I believe coastal property such as this would be under the control by the Calfornia Coastal Commision.  Anything to be improved, I believe, they would have final say over.  I don't think there is much chance of making any type of improvements on this property.

OK fine,,, I'll bite and join the happy train...  If this happens as a group thing (like The Ranch did back in the day), then I'd definitely like to get on board!!!

I'd like to know more about access...where to park, etc. Is there a link to this property on California Coastline? I'd like to scope it out.

Uhhh, we can build whatever we want out there....don't need no stinkin' permits...it's the damn Lost Coast!
I know from The Cove, you'd take Chemise Mtn Rd to Usal Rd to Briceland-Thorne Rd. To get to Bear Harbor. And then I guess hike-in or paddle-in to the property? But there m/b a faster/shorter route for thsoe driving up from the Bay Area, by taking Usal Rd from the south. Because I see a small community called Wheeler in that area?

Wheeler WAS a small community back in the early 1900's...

I have many questions about this because I've spent lots of time in that very area.  I had no idea that there were any private in-holdings in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park.  I doubt very much that ANY kind of improvement would be allowed - even a trail to the beach.  This is a cliff above a beach that gets inundated on most high tides.  There is no way to get from the beach up the cliff, short of ropes and helmets (and bandaids).  If this property is not near the beach then it's up the watershed near Usal road, which is a very very rough road with water crossings that is known to be impassable in all but the dryest conditions.

We need a map showing exactly where this parcel is.  How about it?

How about a link to the property on California Coastline.org so we can see exactly what the shoreline looks like? If there is no good launch, then it kinda defeats the purpose of being a kayak base. There have been some comparisons made to Sea Ranch. SR has some of the most protected and abundant coves on the coast, while the coastline south of Bear Harbor appears rough and murky. Can we see some pics please?

Thanks for the map, Randall.  Here is a screenshot of me landing my kayak AT the property on a VERY flat day.  Not near - AT.  This is a cliff with a beach that provides ZERO shelter.

Interesting that such a little slice is private.

If you guys are that jazzed to have a home base up here let's research what we can buy AT the Cove.

Thanks Bigfoot.
I see Eric's point. The only beach that looks launch and camp friendly is the one at Bear Harbor which I don't think is part of this property. Not much good access like at Sea Ranch  :smt012
