Incredible, Art!!! That's just awesome!!! You could be diving Carmel for a lifetime and never see that.

The tail looked kind of weird. Was that an injury/bite mark?

WTF?!?!?!?  Why didn't you shoot it!?!?!?!  :smt044  I know Andy would have  :smt005

That was my first question too!!

But Art pointed out that would have been illegal since the fishery on swordfish is very tightly regulated.

However...a quick glance through the regs makes me wonder....

 :smt102

Course...I imagine you would need a cannon to take that thing down!!!

Jim

The video is gone.  What was it?

It was 6 minutes and 18 seconds of Art thrashing around in the weeds and 1.5 seconds of what looked to be a mutated billfish of some sort.   :smt003

If it really was a swordfish, then lucky you didn't shoot it.  That's the one bluewater fish pretty much everyone avoids shooting (at least while in the water).

Also, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to shoot.  I've had conversations with buddies that have wanted to shoot them but learned that swordfish are a no-no on spear.  Even if you shot it out of country, you can't even bring it back to the states.

put the vid back up, or send me the link. tease

I think I found the rule against spearing them...

Its back up without 15 minutes of me flopping around 5 seconds of mutated fish.

It was a sword Nate no mistaking it.  They are illegal to spear, its in the dive regs....reads something like "may take finfish except bsb, garibaldi and broadbill (which are swords).  Even if I did shoot it my baby sized spear probably woulda bounced right off of it and pissed it off, then I woulda been in a swordfighting match with a pissed off mean sob.....plus its swordfighting is kinda fruity.  If I did shoot it and actually got penetration it woulda drug me back into the canyon.

Of course, Angel spotted it first and swam with it, I think he developed an attachment to it after he grabbed it by the dorsal and went for a ride on it.....he woulda been pissed if I shot at it.

Guess that it pays to know the regs  :smt002  I just kept expecting you to pull back on the bands since you were diving with your gun pointed at it.  LOL, thats why I said Andy would have shot it  :smt044

Still Unbelievable!!!   :smt007

Hummm... What about this one then?  :smt005
