Any one have any opinions?

I have used both from a boat, I would be fishing for like trout, fresh water salmon and makinaw mostly.

From experience in a boat I would think down riggers would be tougher to set up but more accurate with better control ect, where as leadcore would be the opposite

Am I missing anything?

To each their own.
A DR on a kayak can be amazingly easy to operate if ya do it right.

Tote.... your DR is bad-ass.  So when are you going to build a some for your buddies.  I'd buy one. :smt003

I don't have any experience with leadcore line.  Can you effectively fish it deep at higher speeds like a downrigger?

cool DR. How much of a drain on your battery is it?

Not sure. It lasts me all day long and I always recharge it before my next trip.

Down Rigger for sure!

I use both LC and a DR and I much prefer that the fish hit my DR rod.  Fighting fish on lead core is not too much fun.

Downrigger is: more accurate, more work, but also provides a more enjoyable fight.
Leadcore: less fight, can be accurate with much practice.
With a Hobie I would say FO SHO with a D/R!!! But having both is the best situation. If you are catching fish over 2lbs the L/C won't be so much a drag. When we use it at Eagle Lake it doesn't seem to take too much away.

Tote I hope to be able to get one of your D/R one day; that thing ROCKS!!!!
