New Brighton 6/19-6/26

First thanks to a couple of you Norcal Kayakers for the advice and pointers of fishing your waters.

You were right, it is a kayakfishing paradise!

Camped at New Brighton from Sunday 6/19- Sunday 6/26
Had an awesome time, the kids did all the fun camping stuff and the older ones hit the surf at Cowells and Steamers
everyone had a blast at the Boardwalk

And of course Daddy gotta go Kayak fishing!

I stuck with launching from New Brighton, it was easy and fast,
Fished the kelp, out pass that yellow buoy about a mile, west to capitola wharf and beyond.

Awesome healthy kelp, beautiful scenery.

Caught quite a few yummy brown rock fish and some big and small lincods
I found some massive bait balls with millions of diving birds right on top of me... (for nada)
caught a few Halibut both on plastics and live bait.

I can not wait to get back up to this area...
Beautiful and fishy what more could you ask for

Glad you had a nice camping/ fishing trip.  How deep did you catch the halibut?

wow guess I'm over the 10 post line by a couple now

The halibuts were all caught shallow
the last one in about 10'

If any of you ever hit up So Cal let me know
I fish local around the San Pedro / Palos Verdes area mostly
and hit La Jolla a couple times a month

For the record, if I may.... Don has some serious "street" cred down here in low cal. 
I would take him up on the "hit me up" down here after fishing with him at Catalina.

Nice fish!  I see you were fishing around Spongebob.  I think I'm going to the same spot on Friday.  I hope my luck is as good as yours.
