Bigeyedave came up today to show Jelly the ropes.  Jelly had already laid a solid foundation by mastering the box call made by our good friends the Hurt's.  After lots of practice with the call, a few decoys, and converting his tree fort and the wash-out into a blinds Jelly was ready.

Jelly and Bigeye went out into the backyard at sunrise and Jelly began calling. Didn't take long, and it was over.  A shot from my childhood Sheridan pellet gun (that is now Jelly's) dropped this 20#er.  To say the least Jelly was thrilled.  Bigeye looked a little excited too.

They put the fish cleaning station to use and it ready for the oven now.  All I ever shot in my backyard was a blue jay  :smt012 but thats why we moved here.

If Bigeye dave wasn't nice enough, he left use a HUGE block of Ahi, and a bottle of his medal-winning home brew vino.  What a day!

WOW.

That had to have been a head shot to drop a turkey with a pellet gun?

Good shootin', Jelly!

They hit it in the neck to take it down  :smt070, and then a snuff shot to finish it off.  :smt071

If you digged a pond in your backyard and planted fish (stripers), you would be able to fish right there. :smt001  The point is Mendo is cool.

I would love a pond, but our lot is too sloped.  Leah's grandparents have a pretty nice series of small ponds at their place.  It where I teach all of our kids how to fish.  It is full of panfish (how'd they get in there? :smt002) that are like perfect for the little ones.  When I get bored of family bs me and Jelly have been known to fish there too.

let us know how it taste, I'm sure a wild turkey is going to have a lot more flavor than a store bought one.

Good calling and shooting Jelly  :smt001
