I was just wondering if anyone has used wild game liver for catfish bait?? I've used boar liver but have only got one bite on it. So I don't know if it really works or not.

Chicken liver, crawdads, and cut bait for catfish.
Wild pig liver for me.

My go to bait is mackerel strips and sometimes chicken liver with magic thread.  I've also tried secret7 with little success. I've been meaning to give rockfish a try!

How many hits have you gotten on the other baits?

Chicken livers soaked 1-2 hrs in a warm water brine (NOT hot water!) Lay in the sun (protected from flies) 1/2hr intense sun, then flip them onto dry card board another 1/2 hr or up to 2hrs per side in decent sun (dries on the surface to a nice skin) put tuna fish oil (Get the cheepo tuna packed in oil)and corn syrup 50/50 mix. soak them in this when you have it on the hook, go fish!! Even Bass and trout will occasionally eat this stuff. Good luck and let me know how you do! I also have a blood stink bait that works but I can't even use it with out gagging!  :pukel: (grandpa's mix) :smt044 :smt044
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

You've got some great advice but I've had luck with Mackerel as cut bait and store bought prawns but that was when I was desperate. Rather eat the prawns.  :smt002 I recently stumbled on a site that has a ton of info for anyone interested in cats. He's a Texan catfishing guide and has a ton of articles, vids and podcasts on his site. It's really a great resource. See it at http://www.learntocatchcatfish.com/ Good luck!  :fishing1

I grew up relgiously fishing peanut butter sandwitches for catfish and carp. I would take a chunk about the size of a big marble and form it on to a treble hook. Most of the bread floats away and the peanut butter hangs on ok. Casting with this technique isn't recommended although vertical it works excellent.
Last trip as a joke I took the "secret weapon" along (chicken liver) which I had never used before and I killed em with it.  As far as wild game liver why not? The cats are an odd fish that will sometimes even take a crank bait and if you've already caught one doing it you'll catch more. You could fish it side by side with the usual bait just make sure you use the same line diameter and rod action. Last trip they were line shy and my 8# got hammered while the #12 only picked up a few. I used the same bait and the rods were laying right next to eachother.
