Had a great time fishing with my dad on Father's Day.  We launched at Cayucos next to the pier, paddled out and tried to learn how to use our gear better (my first year, his second).  I'd say it worked out well!  We came home with 7 Copper Rockfish in the 4-pound range and a 6-pound Cabezon.  Had a small Ling on (about 18 inches) that we let go.  All of this in about 20-30 feet of water using feathers baited with squid.

Thanks!  The weather was great, but I did get tossed in the surf coming in; guess I've got to work on that some more.  No losses though!

Nice photo and great job with the fishing between you and your dad!   I was just up the road at Cambria the day before Fathers' Day and caught a few few rockies too.     Met two very nice gentlemen out there with me from Fresno that Saturday in addition to a family on a zodiak who did well on a mess of gophur cod.   Great weekend to be on the water on the beautiful Central Coast!

Same here, but we rented a house. I still spend a few days there each year, never get tired of it. In fact my very first fishing trip on an SOT kayak was right where you went. Nice!
I remember fishing mackerel with Kaz, the lifeguard who has his photo up at Schooners (he's the one with the shark bitten surfboard). Geez, i must have been only 12 years old then. I hooked a salmon on a chrome spoon and lost it at the boat. Good times.

Hey all, thanks for your replies. I'm currently living in Atascadero, so the area we were fishing is relatively near.  My dad came all the way here from Tollhouse, so he doesn't get out there much.  Anyway, it was a great time for both of us and I can't wait to do it again.  Hope to see you all out on the water soon!  Keep posting your trips on the "hookups" board (and I'll try to do the same).
