I thought I would share this story and I'm curious if others have had similar experiences.

I placed a rather large (for me) order with CharkBait last month, in excess of $200. I've bought from them before and always had good service, which is why I returned to them this time. After the order was placed online they gave me a call to let me know that a few items would be back ordered and that they would need to reduce the quantity of a couple items that were discontinued. They would send me what they had, but couldn't send the full amount. I said no problem.

Two weeks later the order arrives. The backorded items weren't there of course, but neither were several items that showed up as "order filled" on the receipt. So I called them, told them what happened and they immediately said they would gather up those items and ship them to me. Again, I'm thinking, no problem. Mistakes happen.

So now it's 2 1/2 weeks after that last conversation and I'm wodering where my stuff is. I call them again and ask about the back ordered items and the missing items. They have no idea about the missing items and cancelled my order for the backordered stuff. I never got a message or any other notification that they cancelled the order, wtf? So now they tell me they are going to grab the missing stuff and send it to me immediately, just like they said 2 1/2 weeks ago.

I gotta say, that unless there is some "bonus gear" in that box of missing items I already paid for, I don't know that I'll be returning to CharkBait for gear.  :smt012

I've done business (not allot) with Charkbait for years, I think I found them very shortly after they opened their online operation.  I've only had an issue once, they backordered some of my items but charged my credit card for the total order anyway and there was no expected arrival date for the backordered stuff.

All my communication with them was by email but the jist of their response seemed to be "yeah so what".  I was pretty dissatisfied with the whole thing but did get all my stuff within another week or so.

But I didn't order from them for a couple years, next time I visited there site they had their charging/shipping policy right up front and I've had no isseus since. I am now waiting for my Avet, and a bunch of those Big Hammer Halloweens that Craig likes so much.

Maybe they do really well as long as things go perfect but aren't good at handling "issues".

I go to the store, prior to my yearly tuna trip. Last year, they forgot to charge me for an item. Being an Honest Abe, i brought it to their attention and received 20 percent off the price.

I got a gift card for Charkbait last March, and I ran into all kinds of problems when I went to use it online. I called and talked to a guy who was pretty blase about the probelm, and gave me instructions on how to use the card. i followed his instructions and it didn't work. I called back the next day and spoke to a woman in their order processing department (a real live person!) who sorted everything out in about 10 seconds. I think the fishing guys there just aren't very good at computer stuff.
I got everything I ordered, but a couple of the items (big ling jigs) had been opened and scotch taped back into their packaging. Kinda funky but no biggie.
I get most of my tackle locally, but I'd shop Charknait again if I needed something like an avet or some special stuff that I couldn't get at Angler's Choice.

I am having trouble with them right now.  I ordered a bunch of stuff inluding swimbaits for GS.  Their website showed that the items were in stock.  A while after my order I got an e-mail saying that most of the swimbaits I ordered were out of stock and some were back ordered. Out of the 75+ swimbaits I ordered, it looks like I will get 5 before GS  :smt013

Bummer.

I probably won't order from them online again. They seem like a great shop IF you are there in person.
My feeling is that they do enough old-school business through the brick & mortar shop that the online stuff is more trouble to them than it is worth.

It really isn't. I went there when I was down in San Diego last month - not impressed.  The store was small, but clean, but didn't seem terribly well stocked.  I actually liked squidco better even though most of their stuff is in the back.

Yeah, Eric's in Ventura is far superior as well.

are they still in business? I could have sworn when I was down there over Easter the shop was gone. Maybe they moved
