I'm trying to figure out what type of structure I'm looking for. I launch at Pinole Creek because it's down the street from my house. In fact the creek is the property line in my backyard. I could get on the freeway to launch elsewhere if I'm wasting my time here. I thought I might ask you guys for tips on where to find Striper on this side of SPB.

I would be interested where you are launching at Pinole creek,

difficult to launch that shoreline with the train tracks and no trespassing, so little is known and that area tends to be shallow, but you can bet they are there. I've seen shore anglers crossing the tracks at pinole shores, where there is a bit of structure, and a gold kastmaster is the most popular lure.

Theres a little launch ramp just outside the train track on the creek itself. It's next to the water reclaimation plant at the end of Tennent Ave.. Lots of mud at the bottom of the ramp. When the tide was  low I had to get out and walk my yak across a 20 yard section of ankle deep water. I wouldn't try it on a negative tide.

Just my 2cents, but I've found the fastest way to locate or discover if stripers are hanging around is to hangout late night on a good moving tide. Listen, walk, listen, sit, silent.
I don't know your area, but I'll do a google.

I like structure too but sometimes it can be about lanes. Good lows will reveal those. They'll ambush from 'em, especially in the evening and early morning. At night, they'll sit in 'em, eat in 'em, swim out individually or as a hunting group, and they'll roam 'em, sometimes their backs nearly halfway out of the water.

Thanks. Do you think topwater lures might work if I can hear them?

From what I could see, you've got some nice water to fish, either to the right or the left.
As the weather warms, when they feel safe, the're going to be slipping up on rocky points with nearby droppoffs. Plus, although this is my first year fishing up this way, if the salinity of the water continues to rise, then, the baitfish will return in greater numbers and the stripers will follow and hold.

I'm gonna be watching this year to see 'if' and/or 'how' long it lasts after the first warm spell. Once the snow starts to melt, it could cause another change. But, like I said, this is my first year up this way.

While topwater is my first choice, it's not what catches me the most fish. Again, just my 2.
The first thing is: what are they feeding on? When I'm not sure, then I'm going at 'em with somethings that covers a lot of water, that I can manipulate at different depths and at different speeds at different depths.
For smaller/schoolie fish, spoons and traps, not a rule. Just a way to get me kinda dialed into a new group of fish.

I like to cover a lot of ground too, cause once found, it can be easy to stay on 'em for a little while,,,,depending.

I've noticed that just because I can hear 'em, doesn't mean that the'yre feeding at the surface. The sounds are often tail-slaps, swooshes, crashing a shallow or the 'bloop.'ha, and a few others.
