so hit the road this morning at 515, was on the coast by 550, and well it was a wee bit windy, the forecast was just about right on for once, so drove up to the fort, and yes it is closed during the week, but there were about six trucks in the parking lot behind the locked gate, guess some lucky russians where staying at the fort over night, also the reef camground was also closed, (and there is construction and a light with ten minute delays just north of meyers grade), so drove up a little further and it was getting windier by the minute so headed home, was back in the burg a little after 7 but hey it was worth the sunrise on the coast, and now time for chores so i can play at arw on sunday. hope this helps anyone planning on heading out there today or tommorow, cameron

Thanks for the recon report  :smt003  Yeah, I was ready to call in sick today but just didn't think it would be doable with the forecasts i'm seeing.  Going to have to be sick later then I guess when its good  :smt044

Way to give it a run, Cam.  Better to have gone to see than to wish you had!   :smt001

I said screw it and drove up to ocean cove this morning. The guy @ the store didn't even know the season was open, as well as everybody else I ran into. I had my gopro but since I'm such a lame ass I didn't press the right button and didn't record anything. I launched around 10:00 and new right away this was gonna be sketchy. As I was heading out the waves were crashing over my bow and hitting me in the chest. I made it about 3/4 of the way out and started marking fish on my ff. I decided to drop there and instantly was snagged. I managed to get it free and dropped again. Snag!! This time it wouldn't come free and almost caused me to capsize. At this point I decided to call it quits. The way in was nasty, the swells kept trying to push me sideways and I almost lost it again. I finally made it to shore and cracked a beer. Talked to a game warden for a while who told me he didn't find out that the season was open until he was at home checking his email. I learned a lot today and can't wait for this wind to blow itself out.
