Ok, this is a little early, but I just got the flyers and they came out great!
I don't quite know what the presentation at my house will look like yet, but there will a number of new pieces, and most of them will be fish oriented.
I am aware that the dates are square in the middle of the prime North SC/ SM coast fishing season. If you end up fishing the area that weekend, stop by and hang out for a bit. It will be an outdoor garden display in the redwoods, and yes, my Pirate Gazebo will be a part of it. I'm lucky number 13!

Looks awesome Sean!!

That's right around Ana's due date, but if the baby is here already and my parents are in town already, maybe we can swing up that way, do a little wine tasting in the area and stop by and say hi!!

Best of luck buddy!!

Jim

The Quail & Thistle tea room is also a nice destination, just a ways up the mountain.
The Beauregard tasting room is also supporting the weekend, so i expect lots of folks will start there.
I'm fortunate in one way because our place is right on the main road, no chance of getting lost coming from the winery you won't be able to miss it.

July 16th and 17th, 11am to 5pm. Come on up!
Some of the other artists will have entertainers, music and such. At my show there will be Tribal Style Belly Dance performances on Sunday afternoon courtesy of the dance troup Holi Choli. I've also got a few large outdoor redwood screens I'll be working on during the show as well, as active demonstrations.

I've been chainsawing and weed whacking all weekend, and have just gotten the show space vegetation under control. There's still a ton o work to be done, but I can finally see how it may all come together.

Really going to try and make one of those dates Sean. Beautiful Artwork. I am very proud to be the holder of three of your pieces (so far  :smt003).

so focused! you hit the target, you get a fourth :smt044

Over the weekend I completed two more, a black seabass/octopus/squid piece, and a custom "secret garden gate" that displays the kelp forest ecosystem.

my next projects, beginning today, are two large outdoor pieces 4x6ft and 4x8ft, each built from four 2"x12" redwood planks. The 4x6 will be a risso's dolphin, and the larger piece is still undecided. I think that will be all I'll have time for but we'll see....

How much time is involved in completing the 4x8 piece?

Thanks for the attention you guys, I appreciate it.

How much time is involved in completing the 4x8 piece?

I'm not really sure yet :smt044
worst case scenario is that I have it only partially finished and display it as a work in progress. I will build the smaller 4x6 first since I already have the design perfected.
Since these large pieces won't be extensively carved though, I expect about 16-20 hours from building the screen to putting a poly coat on it. Of course this will depend on the level of detail in the images.
The Tseekis piece is about 4x4 feet, and I did that mainly as a test to see how well I could paint a semi-symmetrical design without using templates. I painted it on a shipping pallet :smt044.

One of my long time inspirations is the "Raven Screen" a huge cedar panel 14 feet long and about 8 feet high. It was probably painted by a member of the Hoonah tribe prior to 1900. To build a large screen like that has always been the goal for me.

One other development (from today) is a run of t-shirts and possibly stickers I am printing just for the show. These will be the "rastafish" design on black shirts. I've wanted to get these done for a while so its been fun to see the design get scanned and an actual clean decal emerge.

Very cool Sean! Do you have a website with a Gallery of your work? I have a friend that is decorating a new home/lodge in Alaska I would like him to take a look!
