I met up with Hotplate, Bloodbath and a few other non NCKA friends at SWS today and planned on spearfishing.  We geared up and Hotplate and I headed to the island, Joe and his buddy went North under the beige house.  The island area was super kelpy.  It was like trying to swim through mud.  Kelp was getting hung up on every piece of gear I have, it sucked!  I brought a pole with some jigs out just in case the visibility was crappy so I hopped on the yak, and busted out the rod n reel.  I tied on a halloween swimbait for nada, a white swimbait for nada, and a diamond bar jig for about 6 lings.  I forgot to pack damn near all my fishing gear except for my pole so I have/had no idea how big they were.  Probably a couple were 22", others no bigger than 16".  I wish I would have stuck with spearfishing, cause the "under the beige house" area was pretty nice, patches of kelp, not just one giant patch.  Hotplate ended up doing pretty good over in that area, he stuck it out, way to go buddy.  I was stoked that the diamond bar came through for me again though, at least I didnt get skunked, I just wish I would have brought my hawg trough!  Next time I promise I'll stick with the diving Darrel!  I did get a nice suprise though while fishing, check this out...

After we headed in, Darell and I met our friends on the stinking beach and had a couple beers and Joe was BBQ'n some hot dogs that totally hit the spot, thanks again man!  Also got to meet some other NCKAers on the beach as well who had a pretty good day out there fishing, nice meeting you guys also.  I'm looking forward to next time!

That's tight dude with the two lings. Looks pretty calm out there at least. I also like the area right in front of the beige house, there's a shelf that produces. Love the backwards reel action I have a calcutta bass size reel in LH you can have but it spent a year or so submerged in fw and I used it for a bait reel for awhile in the salt so it needs some serious TLC. Weather permitting I will be fishing Carmel tues as well.

Great Video!  I have always wondered if anyone gets a double hook up like that. I have had it happen while bass fishing.      Awesome.  I am glad you caught some fish.
I was on the OK Malibu II.  Did you catch the fish in the same area that I saw you?

Just north of where you saw me, towards the beige house. If had all my fishing gear with me I would have ventured out further. I really gotta learn how to use this video editing software, we need music!
