Thanks to one of the friendly fisherpeople here, I didn't have to cut any threads. A beautiful old Mitchell was sent my way. Thanks again!
The rod was like two bucks at a thrift store,,,cleaned her up, stripped her down,,,rewrapped and cut about a foot of the butt. Her butt was too long for yak fishing: Learning something each time out. Having lost a rod recently - during a wind storm that kicked up waves that had me bouncing,,,rod under leg went flying,,,oochhh - I've secured her with a piece of bungy attached to a vacuum belt. Poverty does seem to produce some strange partners.
