So... Running humminbird matrix 12 standard transfucer...I don't want thru-hull b/c I want temp, no scupper recess so don't want to do that for beach launch reasons...don't like the sidearm rigs on the bung hole mount from the guy in Australia (although I'm considering it)...anyone got a good recommendation on how to mount this sucker??

I am not sure what your transducer looks like but I have an Eagle portable unit that came with a transom set up.  I skipped all the hardware except the sucker. I just screwed the transducter to the sucker and after launching I simply reach over the side of my kayak and stick it to the hull. I pull it off for launch and landing and when I paddle into thickets. I never dreamed it would work so well but it does. Other than making a minor splashing noise like dragging the tip of paddle, it works great. I cannot feel resistance. Another good thing is that it is a "breakaway" mounting and if I forget to take it in before hitting something, it just pops off.  Best of all I can use this set up in just about any kayak at a moments notice. I have passed it to my wife in her kayak when she was curious. I have both dry and wet boats. This is a real solution to the multiboat owner. Not as clean as some mountings but very flexible. OH yeah, I have been know to hand hold it and point it where I want to "look".  Email me if you want a pic.... [email protected]
