The wife and I are thinking about taking the pop-up to Ocean Cove June 16,17,18,19.
I did some searches and noticed they don't take reservations. So, I have a couple questions.

Do we have a good chance at getting a spot if we arrive on a Thursday?
Any advice on what spot would be best for the pop-up trailer?

Thank you in advance.. Al  :smt006

Al, I think by getting there on Thursday, the earlier the better, you shouldn't have a problem getting a campsite. Friday might be a problem if the wx is going to be prime for the rockfish opener. You can always call them before you leave home and see how full they are. We like to camp on the edge of the cliff for the best ocean view but that can suck if it's windy. Maybe C U up there! jim

No site specific advice for you sorry. I think you should be able to get a spot on a Thursday no problem. Maybe you could call ahead and make sure there isn't some kinda event happening there that weekend. That's the only way I think it would be packed on a Thursday. I'll be camping there this week, if I can remember, I'll try to scope out some spots for you.

So it's a private campground. You pay the fee At the store which opens at 9am, maybe 10 ($20) and find an open spot, no assigned campsite numbers, no specific way you have to park or whatever. Just find a spot with a fire ring and there ya go. There are some spots right next to the Cliff/Bluff or whatever with an incredible view, and there are spots that I'm sure get a little less wind than the cliff spots that are tucked back in the trees. So I can't tell ya, "Try and get site 64" cause it's not like that, just show up and find one ya like and start unpacking. The facilities aren't as nice as some other places, outdoor showers and porta-potties, but on the other hand, you don't have to deal with a State managed place and all the regulations and other baggage that come with that. Hope this helps! I'm looking forward to your report.

If you like it windy, camp near the cliffs, if you like hiway noise camp up near hiway 1, somewhere in the middle is great, try to get behind some trees to block the wind and still have a view of the ocean. It's going to be busy that weekend so start looking early.I like the couple of spots across from the showers.

Camped there a few times prefer to stay to left all the way to the back pick a spot in the middle of trees. There is always a lot of wind at night . Rarely does it stay calm the whole weekend.
