I'm getting married June 25th and got some guys wanting to throw a bachelor party.  I'm not into the wild night, been there done that... I'm stuck doing most of the planning for my own part and first weekend of June(sat&sun) want to charter a boat to take myself and the guys out.  I'm the only one of the guys that regularly fishes, hence why I'd like to find a charter.

I need advice on anyone who knows good charter companies near or in SF as I'm coming from sacramento. I'm willing to drive a little further as well potentially if it's worth it. And a larger boat to hold 5-10 that can potential handle more than the bay as I'd like to fish something of size.

What's good fishing right now as I'd like to show the guys a good time. Maybe shark or something that'll give a good fight. I'm more familiar with fresh water.

And any other advice you might offer...

And I'm making sure to get patches for all the guys so they don't get sea sick! :)

New salmon queen. Talk w/ cap. Shim he will put you on fish. If you have a large party enough to fill the boat charter it yourself. If you don't add other walk ons. Good luck.

Berkley has some charters not sure the names, sausalito and halfmoon bay are places I know of for salmon and rockfish when in season. Halibut and stripers are in the bay right now sharks and rays as well. Check out the websites of the harbors and they'll point you in the right direction for charters.

You have two choices regarding charters.  6 and under people lots of 6 paks.  Flash Fishing for Sturgeon, or the bay would be good.  The next size boat will hold up to or more than 30 people depending on size.  Hulicat in Halfmoon bay is good, and you may get a deal on just the boat with a resonable amount, etc.  Rockfish and salmon will be open out of halfmoon bay as well as the bay boats.

The Queen of Hearts http://www.fishingboat.com/ was great the one time I was on. I chose them because they had the best rate. They fish for salmon and rockfish, and have an online schedule to check for availability.

I used to charter party boats every year at my old job. Here are my top picks
Out of HMB "Hulicat" 650-726-2926
Live bait (pot luck fishing) in the bay "Morning Star" 707-745-1431
6 pack boat in the bay (he'll go whereever he has to to get fish) "Flash sportfishing" 510-881-0858

What about shark fishing, something other than leopards? Is it worth doing a trip for just shark to? Is it wrong time in season or do I need to go more south?  Only charter I did was the leopards and had a blast but would like to try something different if we did shark again.  Two of us alone got 15 leopards released with 4 keepers, one hit 5ft mark.  That was fun, definitely learned a lot for fishing leopard if I try by yak in the future!

If you want more than Leopards go with the "Fury". I have not been on this boat, but it is the boat that all the fishing papers get their shark fishing reports from; at least for 7 gill sharks. There is alink below. It also has almost evey boat in the area with contact info.

If you have 6 or less I would do Flash sportfishing, Steve is a good guy. Or for a bigger boat I like Shim on the Salmon Queen or Jay on the New Huck Finn. Live bait potluck with halibut, bass or maybe rockcod. I've fished with them many times.

+1 for the New Huck Finn. A bunch of us from work took over the whole boat. Most of us limited on rock fish and then made a quick stop for halibut, ended up with three good sized halis. Congratulations and have fun!

My friends and I have been going out of Sausalito for many years. Call Cpt Jimmy Robertson at 415 454 3191. His boat is the "Outer Limits". She is a Catamaran and very comfy and stable. Jimmy works real hard to put fish in the boat. Tell him what you would like to fish for and if that is in his power he will do it. 1 to 10 I would give him and his crew a 10.      Chuck
