After reading all the posts about SOT Kayaks, I ran across a super good deal on a 2008 model P13 for $500 from Sport Chalet AND 10% off military discount AND 15% off on accessories :D  So I paid total of $550 for the yak, paddle, and seat.

Unfortunately, this is not an angler edition, hence no rod holder.  Is there anyone with experience drilling rod holders willing to help a brother out this/next weekend?  I'll buy a pack of your favorite adult beverages :D I plan on buying the holder kits this afternoon.

Too bad you live too far away from me otherwise I can help.  Do a Google search on it and you'll find lots of video on this subject and it's not too hard to DIY.  Below is an example:

Sounds like a great deal to me!  Better this way, you can customize it exactly the way you want it!  Did the same with my X-Factor!  Btw, what store were you at?  Looking for a good deal to get a kayak for the raffle for PIF, this doesn't sound that bad.

I got it from Sport Chalet in San Jose.  Call them up, they have a few other discontinued models for low price.  Ask for Kyle, he was very helpful calling other stores w/ those super discounted price.

Sounds good. Don't forget the goop and hardware. You looking to put them behind the seat?

You can get the flushmounts locally bro, West Marine for the goop and rod holders (they price match online retailers), Outback Adventure for the rivets (they might have the flushmounts too)....and they arent too far from erics pad.

OA has the 4 hole flushmounts I used for my X-Factor and I like them a lot.  Don't use rivets unless you have to, SS screws all the way unless you cannot reach it from a hatch!

I scoff at screws good sir....a couple years of solid trolling +2lbs of weight while dragging bottom have reaffirmed by allegiance to the mighty spider rivet  :smt001

I've done some research on where and what mount I want to put on the P13; decided to go fishing this Saturday and dry run where will be the best spot to put the holder at.

Thanks everyone for your input :D
