I think it should be ... anyone that's bought a kayak from Sean gets first dibs.  Then ... anyone who placed top 5 in any of the tournaments gets second dibs.  And then anyone travelling more than 400 miles to get there.  And then anyone paddling a double kayak or greater automatically gets 2 spots.

Let's see.  I bought 2 kayaks from Sean, placed 5th at Elk last year, caught 1 of 3 stripers at Mendo.  And I'm coming from Seattle.  And I'm paddling a Triple.  So ... how many spots do I get?  I think I have some for sale!!!  Start your bidding.

I still have to work out the limit/cap.  It will affect both yaks and "overnighters".  We don't camp there...really...we will all use this term now  :smt002  In the end, I am sure a few will not get in, but it will be bigger than last year, and bigger than anything else in Nor Cal...and a whole lotta fun.

I heard CpKayak is turning 40...looks like 2 kegs of Great White this time!

Art, Mike..... I wouldn't worry about the cap too much.  I bet all of the currently active forum members, including any of last year's derby's participants who want to go again, can be accommodated.

Any last minute guys will probably lose out.

Build your own Dude... the Sand tires are nice and all, but you can get by just fine with narrower tires if you aren't pulling the yak for more than a hundered feet or so on the sand... you can also doube up the harbor freight tires to get good sand performance.

Sean-

I'm totally looking forward to the tourney this year. I'll be there... Hopefully, we can do something different with the fish cleaning station though. I don't have any recommendations right now but, somewhere other than on the basketball court would be great.

Doubling up on the harbor freight tires is an interesting thought.

I added pipe insulation to the outside of my cart's wheels and it helped a bit.

Of course, the best plan would be to spring for the big wheels.........and a new Ling rod and a couple of other replacement items........If I'm going to spend all my fun money, this is a good place for it....... :smt004

Don't forget to save some for raffle tickets.  Maybe you'll win a sweatshirt or something.   :smt008

I think anyone that carried their yak down that hill on their shoulder should be grandfathered in. Seeriously, I am already making plans for this, It was the highlight of my year last year and I didn't even come close to placing. Sean, you put on a great party. I will be sending you antibiotics 2 weeks ahead of time this year. We want you to stick around for the whole tourney. Thank you for all the work you put into this.

Hi YakAnglers:

That Elk portage kicked my ASS! I'll show up and help cook plus wash dishes but, I still have bad feeling about the trail to the shore. i guess the long trail is the reason the fishing is still good.

I think that last years participants should be grandfathered in up to a certain date. Maybe for 2 weeks from the posting date. After that if they haven't responded then those slots become open to first come first served.

Booooo!!!!!  :smt107

Things were crazy for me last year and I couldn't make it.....obviously I missed out big time, it would suck to ride the bench two years in a row.

Me too!

I just added two more harbor freight wheels to my cart to make the trip down to the water easier this year.  I will post pictures later.  I am curious to see how well it works.
