How ya'll are!?,
A friend just bought a malibu 2 xl for him and his wife. I believe it was purchased as is with a blem on it.
Has anyone got a method for repairing the seam in the scoupper? A small amount of water in the hull showed it right away.
I don't think it will sink but needs fixin'
thanks for any help

hey there, i am not sure how most folks on this board prefer to repair their kayaks but you can get a plastic weld kit from ocean kayak providing its the same materials and composition. I am not sure if a quick fix like epoxy and a little sanding would be good being that it will be in water or even JB weld.

i would opt for a more permanent fix like the ocean kayak repair kit. that will stand up to flexing and salt water better probably.

i have used epoxy and jb weld but thats pretty ghetto garage surgeon stuff. i even used rtv gasket maker to fix the gasket on my hatch of my scupper pro tw. not the prettiest but it seems to have worked so far. my reasoning behind it was not that bright but i needed a quick fix and it worked ok for now. i would like to learn to do a more permanent repair in the future. maybe use a dremel and slot the area out, sand it a little and plastic weld it shut.

see the ocean kayak website or even contact aquan sports in san carlos. they'll have good ideas for a fix.
