assuming you bag a salmon (on the correct gear). Paddle in, drop it off, and head back out for RF.....
If I catch a salmon, i'll be paddling back in, cracking a beer and eating it sashimi style at the beach  :smt003

Other stuff to consider:
If you catch a RF/ling or salmon while using 2 rods, it must be released and it doesn't count for the tourney.

wrt salmon, I read the regs differently. If you are in POSSESION of a salmon then no more than 1 rod, two barbless hooks hard tied with less than 5" between the top of the top hook and the bend in the lower.
Theoretically I can fish multiple barbless rigs  (for whatever bites) until I have a salmon on the clip.
I dont know about tourney regs.

btw, if your aim is to respect the salmon fishery, why give a one inch bonus to cpr legal salmon? A hog troughed salmon has a very high mortality rate imo.

The fixed circle hooks are only required if you're not trolling.  Standard hooks on a slip rig are OK (and preferred) while trolling.

The C&R bonus isn't necessarily intended for a legal salmon, as I'd say most if not all who legally catch a legal salmon will keep it.

I just spoke to Gary Blasi - he runs Full Throttle Sportfishing out of Eureka, and he targets plenty of Pacific Halibut.  He says you can use multiple rods for them, but it may change next year.  He agreed with me that since the PH are usually targeted at around 250' of water it would be sketchy to run two rods off a kayak for PH.

Exactly. Anyway if you are fishing with two rods and you catch anything that has a rod number restriction and keep the fish. You are breaking the law. Where you will be immediately turned over to cal -tip and flogged in public with seaweed. :smt003 :smt006

If you still have questions on regulation you can do like I always do and call the DFG Marine division and have them put you in touch with a game warden.
