Jim, that is an awesome video!  You should send it in to GoPro!  Did you know it was a Wolf Eel when you saw it?  Or did you think it was a Monkey Face?  So awesome man, I'm stoked for you.

After talking with Darrel and seeing what a beast you are, I think I'm going to cross over into a guns and put down the polespear for a while.  Cant wait to get out there with you man, see ya at GS5 if not sooner.

Jeff

LOL!

I'm sure the GoPro guys get a lot cooler videos all the time, but thanks though!!

I actually thought it was a Monkey face at first...then it opened its mouth and I knew it was a wolf eel!!

Once I swam it back to the kayak I tried to ask the boys on CH 69 if Wolf Eel tasted as good as Monkeyface...but I guess the wet VHF and the hood over my ears and being out of breath made communication difficult!!

They repsonded with "can somebody translate?" "your face looks like a monkeybutt?" and "What the hell is Jim babbling about now?"

 :smt012 :smt002 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044

Later on they were like "Oh, that's what you were saying!!"

WTG Jim!!! Congrats on the ling and on the wolf eel!

The jaw strength on those things is tremendous. That had to have hurt like hell!

I've heard that there's an inner-membrane skin on the fillets that you'll want to remove before you cook it. I bet it'd be terrific smoked.

Fantastic day Jim, congrats.

Quick, and probably stupid question, but since I don't dive, I'll ask anyway.  Is the knife to the head while still in the water just to expedite death?  Don't think I'd seen it done before and was curious.

I think the patent pending pose with the wolf eel needs to be my new avatar!

I don't know man, having a picture with another man's hand on your wolf eel, looks a little kinky. :smt003 :smt002

I still cant believe it Jim.  You should start carrying a scythe with you when you dive.  that way when fish see you they will know that the last thing they will experience is your hand around their gill plate and a knife in the head.  the eels of course will get to test their gag reflex at the end of the day but its all good.  truly and epic day.  that spot that we went to had some real good structure and i wish i could have stayed but i guess i brought my little sisters stomach and had to head in.  like everyone on here as already said.  your are 100% savage.  and watch out for the full moon

LOL!!! That eel needed three hands...course would have been better if it weren't a big bearded guys hand!!

Yeah, for me the knife through the brain puts them down and stops them thrashing.... :smt003

Darrel...thanks bro....really enjoyed rolling and diving with you...that area we were at has potential for you and me with a capital P....next time conditions let us, we are heading back there...and I still want to check out that other pinnacle we were talking about.... :smt003

You are a total animal!  Catching the battle with the wolf eel on video - not to mention a respectable ling shot on vid...  You're mastering it.  Well done, and thanks for sharing.

All of us are more sincere because of you - WTG!!!   :smt001
