I'm going to be in Carmel Valley April 7-9th for a corporate event. It sounds like I'll have Saturday after about 10am free until around sunset. I figure fishing is out not enough time or knoweldge of the area but I thought I'd put together a float plan to enjoy the area as I'm from the East Bay (Brentwood/Oakley) and don't get down there often. What I'm looking for is a good place to put in lots of scenery etc., also any info. regarding wind this time of year (direction etc.). I know anywhere near the ocean is going to be worse windwise later in the day so I'm hoping some locals can chime in here and give me some good areas to paddle in. What I'm trying to avoid is a strenuous paddle back to the put in into a heavy wind. I'd rather paddle into the wind to begin with and have it help me save some energy for the rest of the evening on the return trip.

I'll do the leg work and the research but I don't even know the area very well. Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

That's right your new restaurant, are you open for lunch? Most of my time down there is planned but if your open for lunch or breakfast we'll try and stop in on our way out of town on Sunday.

Thanks,

Jeff

Check the tides, but if you are after wildlife watching, then Elkhorn Slough is another option.
