so the plan was to go spearing out in monterey somewhere on sunday , saturday i had a family party and i told myself i was gonna go easy on the booze , thats not easy in my family!.. from the spicy food and the mixed drinks getting passed around it was hard to say no , the night became a blur...i woke up the next morning in bed bymyself with all my clothes on and huge grass stains on my jeans , also had a busted lip :smt012
then the wife comes in the room and is like " are we still going to the beach blah blah i told you not to drink so much blah blah"
i told her to chill out , get me a gatorade and let me come up with something , somewhere around all this i made contact with FM1 andy & alameda geoff , geoff actually told me to step my game up and change my maxi pad and to get up to the north coast and get some dam ABs for redemtion after last times ab skunk!...as the fluids started flowing in i proposed this:

lets drive up to the north coast with the kids ( new baby , 2 year old wife and her 10 year old son) , pack a cooler with drinks and snacks , blankets beach toys ect.
ill dive and get my ABS within an hour , chill for a while and soak it all , let the kids play in then on the way home ill take um to dinner at a restraunt of her choice. she liked my idea even though she thought the sonoma coast was only an hour & a half drive  :smt002
after packing everything up we were on the freeway by 1130 .

made it up to the water to find the wind up but the swell small , i tried stillwater for the first time and the family really dug the layout , perfect!suited up after getting them settled and swam off into nomans land in search of some legal abs , started out shallow and didnt find too much , i should of swam farther to find the bigger ones but ended up finding my limit within 45 minutes , back to the beach i went! , after getting to the beach i took my mask off forgettig that my Go-pro was still attached , lost it! i got back in the water and searched and searched , meanwhile the wifes making fun of me reminding me of how much it cost yara yara..i was about to give up untill i seen it tumbling around in the surf! got it and it was still filming! tagged my abs,  cleaned up , loaded back up and down the hill we went , stoped and ate at marys pizza shack in petaluma , stuck with lemonade this time! ha! anyways it felt pretty good to get my abs and also enjoyed the smile on the familys faces while they played around in the beach , made up this little video but was disapointed due to the fact that i still havnt got the angle down yet , i wanted to have footage of me plucking the abs but you cant see anything , o well , next video then. enjoy in 720p

Thanks for the report baitNbeer. Glad that you and the family had a great time. There is nothing better then spending some quality time with the wife and the kids and especially you can sneak out and grabbed a limit of snails on top of that.  Also way to recovered that GoPro camera of yours, I'm sure you will never hear the end of it from the wife if you did not recover it.

haha look at that smile when the cam was found again!

What is the depth rating for the go-pro cam??  I have thought that's just a surfing camera...  do you have a model name/number or is it just one model?

LOL!!!!!

Nice work bro!!

I am still working on the angle on mine too....for me I think I need to tilt it down between 2 and 3 finger width between the housing and my head...

Glad you found the camera bro...now get the angle right and stop wasting good songs on BS footage.

AHahhahahahahh this is very entertaining.  I am glad you like stillwater, that is my favorite "teach a newbie spot".  If you wanted to fill the screen with video, change the settings from 4:3 to 16:9 (widescreen) in movie maker.

Whats your secret in getting the wife and kids to go... I can't get my wife to sit in the car longer than 1hr....

*back to gopro website, to enter the daily drawing to win me something that is going to fall off my head, LOL*

Andy, thanks for your entertaining report brother :D Right on for getting your easy limits, but even better at getting the family all in together on your idea. Turned out to be a fantastic idea :D I'm happy that you're getting some diving/fishing in!

Right when I read that ya lost your go-pro, I immediately thought about Jim's close call in losing his camera. Glad that both incidents turned out gravy :)

That was priceless!  Loved the vid, Andy - documenting the camera loss and find is good stuff.  WTG on the abs too.   :smt001

Andy I researched the GoPro site; there are several models, and the one closest to being used underwater seems to be the "Surf" model.  But it does not mention being submerged to 180'.  Is that what you have?!  Thanks a lot.
