Well its been a while since I have posted on norcal. I hope you are all keeping well.
Last week saw the first meet I have attended this year. A trout fishing affair at located in Exmoor national park in Devon.
As previously this report is copied from the Anglers Afloat forum in the UK.

Firstly I would like to say thanks to john and helen for putting the weekend together. They were both missed over the weekend ........however we still ate their sausages! ;D
The trip down was a bit slow with roadworks, a vehicle fire and a crash. But just as I was beginning to think it was never going to get there the traffic cleared and I was on my way ...until I got lost in Exmoor national park. I got there in the end and was greeted by friends old and new. Was I hungry? a big plate of chicken and pasta was thrust in my hand. Thanks Nicki. :)

A couple of beers and a look at Ian and Jan's catch had me going to bed ready for an early start.
By one in the afternoon I was ready to launch! ::) It was a bit breezy but sunny, I paddled down to the end where the bridge crossed and lashed on a bit of fluff. Nowt happened for a couple of hours so I had a nap...... until John rudely awoke me :) So now fully awake I redoubled my efforts and managed two before paddling in at dusk

There was much banter and burnt meat round the barbecue.....and a little blood. :P
Next day many packed and left for long journeys home, but I was on holiday and did not have to go to work the next day, so I bought a catch and release ticket and set forth onto the lake once more. It was hot and sunny with just the occasional breeze. Was this really early April? Blimey it was warm in my black dry suit. 8-) I had managed to go out without a hat so I spread a load of factor 50 on my face and wrapped a piece of slimy fish rag round my head. I sure didn't smell too good but it was a one man yak, so what the hell.

I bumped into Ian and Jan who had been for a paddle round the lake they said the far end was a lot wilder and sounded a great paddle.

I stayed until evening and then set off for the drive home I managed one more fish.
The venue was really good with just the right level of facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly and the fishing had lots of potential. Of course the best bit of the weekend was the company of fellow kayak fisherpersons . :) Here's to the next one.

Rockin' the G&R along the highway!

Another great report.  You need to get across the Atlantic and then across the US and land in NorCal, Mueller.   :smt001

Thanks for the replies guys. Kinky backed fish turn up now and again in sea and freshwater don't they. The dry suit is a Typhoon Max B A good suit its had over 80 launches and is still going strong.
Plenty more meets coming up in the next few months so expect a few more reports over the summer.
