Does anyone know if there is a kayak hatch smaller than 6 inches? I want to put a small one an the back of my prowler 15 so I can have access to affix other things towards the rear of the kayak. Well nuts or rivets will not work for what I want to do. I need to put bolts with regular nuts.

Speaking of nuts do you know the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?

 :smt012 good question tote!
I purchased an extra 8" catbag for my prowler when I ordered it, only to find out later that the damn thing doesn't fit the space in the back I had thought it would fit. It would fit if I cut the bottom edge of the flange to sit at center of the round area in tankwell. When I called OK about it they told me that it will not fit and to do so would void my warranty. The only thing that flat is for, is the rudder system access panel. My point was that if it's made to be cut what's the diff. what goes in the hole, the sales rep was not happy with me by the time I hung up the phone.
As soon as my warranty is up I will put a hatch of some sort back there as it is too much space unaccessed. I gave the extra 8" hatch to a friend with a new OK drifter, he didn't like the idea of a wet bag so he sprayed the outside of the nylon with a rubber compound normally used as tool handle gripping, works great!, still flexible but dry!
If you find a smaller hatch than 8" let me know!

look for deck plates not hatches.  you can get a variety of sizes

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks to all for the ideas. Especially about "deck plates".
I went to West Marine and got the small 4 inch plate and installed it.
I posted pics in the 'kayak rigging' section.
