Nice setup and that thing is rigged for any fish in our area.  Now it's time to test it out.  One suggestion I have for you when rigging is to buy a cot from KMart or WallMart.  I use the cot to place my kayak on and then sit on the kayak (simulating being on the water).  Helps you determine if everything is comfortable and within reach.  I have one you can borrow during your rigging that I don't use anymore since I am done with rigging.  I'm sure everyone has gone through phases of rigging their kayaks and have made modifications after testing them in the water.  Can't beat testing it in your garage before splashing it.

Luis

I thought the cot was for when the wife gets mad at all you are spending and kicks you out of the house into the Garage.

Yo Luis, Thank for the offer and info! But I will probably go pick one up tomorrw; I do think this is going to be the last kayak I work on.... might be nice to have one around.

Plus I might need it to sleep in the garage when I run out of WAF points..

Hey Victor,

All I have to do is tell her that I'm building it for her!  As if she would ever take it out in the ocean....ha ha ha!!!

I was going to use the mast tube for the FF or vanity camera, but then thought "what if I have a sail?"

How often will you deploy the sale and need the FF though?

Don't really know, myabe when halibut fishing in the bay... but the reach is more my concern, if I could; I wold have moved it closer, but the rail got  to narrow.

try and keep one rail (side) of the boat clear of all attachments (FF, GPS, rod holders, etc). If (actually when) you go over you'll appreciate the obstruction free side to re enter the boat.

Great point!  This should be a standard recommendation when rigging a kayak.

Okay, finally got the nylon webbing need to install the battery box; copied the setup from my OK Prowler.

Use a plastic tube and end-caps from TAPs plastic for the wire junction box; only cost $3.50 for a long tube, which I cut down to length.

Only thing really left to do is build an pontoon float for the outrigger bar and I am done.

Here are more images of the completed project:

They're okay; I just had alot of Scotty Rod holders and mounts from my fishing boat that I wanted to be able to interchange.

However, If the "RAM Mount" company would like to sponsor some accessories, I might be inclined to change... {hint} {HINT}   :smt044 :smt044

Nice work Glen, looks like you're almost done.

I'm having a hard time understanding the purpose of the wire junction box.  What exactly is it?

Just a "Water Resistance" place to make wire connections. Even though an electrical device or switch is located elsewhere in the boat, the only place I make wire connection is in the junction box; I do not splice or break into the wire midstream in the boat, just another place for corrosion to set in.

Can't wait for him to finish, so he can help me on mine.

How about this Sunday? Shoot me a pm...

btw: the "device from hell" is up and running...

Nice work Glen.   I'm feeling like my Revo is gonna look pretty damn plain compared to yours.  I'm adding the Hobie Sidekick outriggers this week.  I think the sail will make a lot more sense with the amas added for stability.  I considered building my own amas or buying the ones with the Scotty mounts but the Hobie ones were a lot less money.  I think the added stability will be a great thing to have at Shelter Cove.  I don't plan on standing but it will be nice to be able to move around a little more without flipping the yak.

Thanks!! That is the same reason why I want at least one outrigger on the yak, just to add additional stability. Once I get my outrigger done, I'll get the sail too...... later thou.......
