I read the following report and thread on Coastside.  I was wondering if anyone here has attempted to fish the upper Napa River on their kayaks or knows where to launch.   It sounds promising.

Just got back to my dock from fishing the upper Napa River for stripers. Using live baite produced a 35 lb stripper for my friend Buc Bartlett his biggest to date. There are alot of females passing through so we made sure to release it.Last week also produced a 30lb striper as well. Catch and release my friends.

the napa river flows between vallejo and mare island, for years a naval base. i'm not sure were they're getting the bass but we used to do well above the highway 37 bridge for both bass and dinos. another spot was at the low bridge that went from vallejo to the island. also, we used to fish the mouth near the maritime academy.be careful up above the 37 bridge you could end up high and dry when the tide goes out. we fish to the side of the main channel there.

Chuck-There is a nice public dock in downtown Napa.  There is parking next to it, it would be easy.  The river is kinda yucky but it does have big fish.  One of the best restuarants ever is next to the launch...Celadon  YUM!
