I am getting ready to install a fish finder in my Revo and was wondering what is the best location for installing the transducer (Garmin) inside the hull?

I read on some other forums that turbulance from the Mirage drive can create issue on your fish finder...

(ps: this is just the fish of many questions regarding mods for my Revo; so heads up....)

right next to (behin) the mast tube. Between the drive well and the mast tube. At least that is where mine is and no issues with bubbles, etc.

i have one transducer that i run up front behind the mast, and one i run right underneath the seat (two diff FFs). i have no problems with either. but the one under the seat could get in your way for storage if you plan on storing anything inside your yak while OTW.

Glen,
Mine is in a piece of boogie board and directly behind the sail mast tube.  It seems to work fine in that location and doesn't interfere with storage.  My battery box is strapped to the mast tube.

On my OB its installed in front of the mast tube because I wanted it to be easily accessible and reaching behind the tube to pour water in didn't sound fun.  I've considered putting it right under my seat though so I could pick up my DR weight easier at depth.  But I pull my FF out every time and it would be a pain to re-run it from the front hatch to the middle. Also, your trying to avoid any interference your Mirage drive may create while underway, so forward I think is better than behind.

I have mine behind the mast tube.  It is fine if you use a water bottle to fill the waterbath.  The mast seems to protect the transducer from my wheeleze and front hatch junk.

Okay, behind the mast tube and in front of th M-Drive it is; I just hope the "puck-style" transducer will fit in there. Wanted to stay with Garmin so I can use my existing GPS Sounder (and all the 5billion maps I have) on the Revo. Will start the install in the next couple of days....

Thanks Guys!!!

I don't like to open the front hatch when I'm on the water and sometimes I forget to dump water into the foam transducer 'holder' so I mounted mine just behind the drive well and forward of the center hatch. That way I can open the center hatch and dump a little water in there from my seat if I forget and already OTW.

+1 on behind the tube.  I was worried that the fins would interfere w/the signal at first, but no issues so far.

So I tried mounting my transducer behind the mast like most guys, however, I also tried using styrofoam and Goop. The Goop melted the styrofoam, and didn't stick to the hull. Good thing I decided to do a water test before going out. Any suggestions on the water bath? Sillicon and a 6"d pool noodle?

6" pool noodle is what I used... I can cut you a piece for you; you gonna be in the East Bay anytime soon?
