I arrived at the Browns ravine ramp around 7:30am. Unloaded and hit the water.
Tote and his son arrived a little after that. Nice to meet Jackson, always a pleasure to fish with Tote.

The lake is very low. I'm sure the water management people know what their doing and the lake will be full this spring. :smt002  Lots of boats on the water.

I tossed around a few senkos using a Texas rig or  drop-shotting. Didn't get a bite from the bass.
As Tote and I were working our way up the South Fork, I trolled a small silver dodger with a Jensen cop-car lure. Caught my only fish of the day, a nice Rainbow.

I trolled as far as the pump station on the south fork, turned around and had to fight a nasty headwind back to the ramp. Off the lake by 11:30am and before the rain started. Good to be on the water.

Hitdog was on the lake too. I'm sure he will post, he left me a message that he caught a couple rainbows on the north fork.

I was on the water about 6:45 am.  I launched from Granite Bay Beach?  The lake was very low, so I drove my truck all the way down to the edge of the water and launched off the beach.

I trolled a blue / silver dodger with a threaded nightcrawler on one pole and a Balck / Silver ShadRap on ther other.  I stayed about 100 feet from shore and followed the shore line, making my way up the North Fork of the American River.  About an hour in I landed the first rainbow on the nightcrawler.  I threaded another nightcrawler on and about 15 minutes later I got my second rainbow.  Both were about 14-16 inches.

I called Al to let him know where I was and what was working for me, then I turned around and heaed back.  Going through the same spot I got my first hit I saw the pole with the ShadRAP bend over hard.  I got very excited, just to find out I had a snag  :smt010

I was off the water by 9:15.  I really wanted to get into some Kings, but I'll settle for the two bows.  I only saw two bass boats up on the north fork, so I basically had that part of the lake to myself.

It is always good to fish with Al. He scored his first fish of 2006. A nice rainbow.

I am 0-6!!! this year. Maybe I need to target bluegill to break the curse. I was fishing for bass throwing Sencos, rattle traps. and crank baits all to no avail.
I did see a few PB's get a couple of trout. There were a LOT of boats out there.
We started by paddling into the wind headed to south fork. As luck would have it the wind shifted big time and made for an upwind paddle the whole way back too.
This is my son Jackson paddling in after a day of zero fish too.

With all these skunks I have I must smell pretty bad!
I am definitely due!
