Just want to thank ChuckE for answering all my quesitons regarding the pre and post purchase of my first kayak, he was/is an invaluable source of yakking knowledge.

I picked up a 2010 Hobie Mirage Adventurer at Sunrise in Livermore last week.  I have NOT put it in the water yet due to having to take the family to Disneyland for 4 days!!!  Now that I'm back the weather is not cooperating but as soon as the wind dies down (don't care about the rain) I'll drop it in for a test drive in San Leandro channel/bay today (crossing my fingers).

Gots to be a member.  I've received several emails with it embedded and I believe I got one in the mail also.

Jedmo

I thought my former T160 was the Ferrari of kayaks, although my Adventure is a nice ZR1.  :)
Peace, y'all

Thx for all the kind words.  Took the yak on the water for the first time today.  My cousin and I launched at San Rafael and fought the wind and 1-2 foot waves, went around the Marin islands then back to the beach launch point.

All in all the kayak performed well and the leg workout intense at times.

Going to take it out on the estuary tomorrow for a more mello trip.

Took the yak to the delta and compared to the bay it was a cakewalk.  Using the standard fins on flat water makes me think the turbos are not as necessary although I'm going to get them anyway :)

I traveled a few miles with and against current and can see how 10-12 miles could be doable with little to no effort.

Going for a quick stroll on the estuary tonight, I have officially been bitten by the bug and have the SICKNESS !
