Better to be prepared and have a plan, I hope he is wrong too.

When I was young, I used to freak out my japanese friends by "predicting" that their dads (whom I'd yet to meet) wore moustaches and enjoyed fishing.  "OMG, How'd you know that?!" they would ask incredulously.

My predictions were wrong just about as often as they were right.  But when they were right, boy, I milked the $hit out of it.  A crackpot needs only one jackpot to establish a credible track record . . .

Agreed.
Berklund has some interesting ideas, but the best defense for surviving a big quake (and I would say we could be due for one any time now) is just as wildernesshunter said: get a plan and prep a kit. Once you make it through, try to be a help to others who didn't have enough of those two things.

That said, if my dog freaks out in a few days I'm calling in sick to work...

+1

Good to have a plan for sure, but beyond that...I had employees skipping work and going to Mt. Madonna on 03/11!! My wife had THREE out of 20+ kids in her classroom!!

If people buy into this prediction and spread the word that CA is a dangerous place to be for this next week, I could see a mass exodus out of state....not a good thing for anybody IMHO.

an old Hawaiian friend used to "predict" the sex of babies.  He would look the pregnant woman in the eyes and say, "you will have a boy."  Then he would pull out his notebook, and write the mothers name and next to it write GIRL.  If the baby was a boy, the mother was amazed.  If she came back and said he was wrong, he would pull out the book as proof that she got it wrong.  Man, I miss that old guy.  Charlie RIP

Fellas...a prediction without the Scientific theory is similar to asking a fortune cookies, I've been watching Discovery channel his arguments about the nature reaction lately its been a phenom, some witness it ourselves, Whales going shallow, deep water humbolt squid wash off, wild animals moving close, what about the fish die off, the continues unpredictable climate chance, I am not saying he is right, but there will be no harm it we keep our self prepare if this will happen..I always says Hope for the Best, prepare for the worse...

A buddy of mine summed it up best below.

"Whack job.  Fox specializes in fear.
While there might be some factual elements, calling out a specific week is speculative.  The bait fish kill in socal is very different from whale beachings.
I suspect he was run out of the USGS - only 6 years.  something up with that......B"
