Went out at 9am this am with my wife and buddy ron. Met Malibu on his kayak out there tending to his traps and dropped my hoop net in a few spots. i was in 42 feet of water and got my limit + 4 (my wife and i) in about 3.5 hours. largest was 8" and smallest was about 6".

Water looked good and wind was blowing south so we were drifting towards the rocks.

I love LM beach. never got skunked for crab there since the first day i went there.

My wife was getting cold and i was starvin. went to taco bell for lunch.

Now I am ready for bed... :smt003

Hey John, good seeing you out there...I left my trap overnight and what happened? The swells came up - that wasn't in the forecast. I'm not quite sure what to do. I could wait a few days and see if the swells lay back down again or just go for it today...Well, I got 6 crabs for my efforts yesterday - 3 dungies and 3 fat rock crabs...
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Hey Malibu, good to see you there as well!

I think that it might be worthwhile to get the trap you left but if its pretty bad then maybe just leave them til it calms down.

I am not too familiar with Linda Mar and not sure where and how those traps might move when its rough.

I hoped the tuna worked for you!

Let us know what you get!

John

Hey there, after i moved away from the rocky areas i got more dungeness and a few tiny rock crabs. There are still lots of small dungies but i threw them back. Also observed that there were some dungies which had some sort of shell infection and black spots that looked pretty nasty. Some type of sores and whatnot. I put those back as well. I am not sure those are safe to eat.

Do you know if those are still ok?

They looked kind of weird.

John,
I always keep males if they're legal, and I occasionally get them with those weird colorations/sores...I don't notice anything wrong with the meat and I'm still alive!
Well, I'm watching the swells and I might ame a run for it later today...I'll give it 2 or 3 days before I send a call for help to the Coastsiders!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...
