So I know everyone goes to the Bay for the general stripper/sturgeon etc.   But anyone try Tomales for them? Ive seen a few rollers out there. Anyways stopped by Bodega shop in Petaluma , chatted with a good guy down there and he said a few weeks ago they were out there in a 11 ft boat and saw a dino roll that was bigger then the boat!! wow! ..  Anyway he suggested anchoring out behind Hog Island in about 10 ft of water and droppin ghost shrimp.  He said there are alot of dino's in there..   So why is that you dont hear about it much?

Well, let's see, if you have a power boat the boat launch is undoable in a low tide. If you do time it right going out in Tomales is pretty risky if you don't know your way around the Bay because it is full of shallow areas. The fishing out there is pretty on and off and it's hard to keep up on what's biting, if something is biting.

The only time I see boats crowd up in Tomales is when someone says the halibut are in. That will happen in a few weeks or so.

I've seen sturgeon jumping in Tomales on two different occasions.

I've also seen a very large school of stripers boiling in Tomales.

Tomales used to have a HUGE herring fishery.

It all adds up!

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
