Got a GoPro for my birthday from the inlaws!!  :smt007

They usually don't get me nothing....think I must be growing on them....like a fungus!! Maybe after being married to their daughter for almost six years, giving them their first grandkid (and another on the way!) they have decided I'm not SUCH a scumbag!!

 :smt002 :smt003 :smt005 :smt044

I took it out for the first time yesterday...pushed the record button one too many times so only got 8 seconds of footage!!   :smt012 :smt011

All I would have recorded anyway was sand, sand, sand and....you guessed it, more sand!!

Stupid Halibut....hate them...hate fishing for them...hate hunting for them...just kidding...kinda!! Don't ask where I was hunting cuz I was sworn to secrecy..all I can say is that if you wanted to kill sand it was WFO!!!  :smt005 :smt044

My big find of the day...the GoPro!  :smt005

After I stood up in the shallows I took my mask off and realized my camera was not there!!!  :smt013

Either it fell off when I took the mask off or had slipped off when I was swimming in through the surf!!   :smt010 :smt009 :smt010

Spent a loooong time looking through the shallows and cursing...then walked back to the truck to tell my bro Andy what had happened.

It was almost dark by now...the sun had set about half an hour ago!  :smt009 :smt010

He came back out to give me moral support...from the shore...with a beer in his hand!  :smt003 :smt004 :smt005 :smt005 :smt044

Put the mask back on and started swimming back and diving down along the path I had come in on....4 dives later: Success!!!!!!!!!!!

 :headbang:

 :smt003 :smt004 :smt003

Celebrated the great find of the day with a few beers over at the Pub!!

 :beer1

 :smt004

Anyway...thinking of some velcro/strap set up to keep it attached to my mask strap...don't want to lose it again...think I used up all my good karma points finding it this time and doubt I will be so lucky next time!!

Thought I would share so any new Gopro owners don't go through the cursing/stressing/crapping of the pants search that I went through last night!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Too bad you pushed the record button once too many times, or we'd have gotten a look at your "Oh Shit, my camera's gone!" face and then the moment of rediscovery!   :smt005

I'm really glad you got your camera back, Jim.   :smt001

Yesssss...black and tans=good!!  :smt003

Andy really motivated me to get back out there and look again...I had pretty much given up and was ready to start breaking shit....really put my anger management skills to the test to not start throwing gear and kicking tires!!

 :smt002 :smt005

He also got on the phone to see if the GoPro's floated...I can tell you that they definitely do NOT.

 :smt005

Thanks again bro!

Jim

Must be good Karma at work.  Sonny and I found Hobie Dave's lost Mirage Drive at Doran Beach a couple of hours after he dropped it, a few weeks ago and now you guys find the "lost" camera.  Who would think anything lost in the Ocean could be found? Amazing!

Peace, y'all

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!!

I was thinking I was gonna have to figure out a way to buy one so they wouldn't know that I had lost the gift!!

Dude, this EXACT same thing happened to me in Hawaii, but it was my wedding ring I lost...and found again in the surgy reef water! The ring slipped off due to sunscreen. I had given up but Laura kept saying "just put your mask on & keep looking"
You got off easy with your stress level Jim:smt044 It coulda been worse! :smt044 :smt044
