Ok So I am taking my yak out to Tomales for the first time and will be launching out of lawsons Landing. I will be there around 11. High tide is at 2:34 so I am going to try and be out there before and then pick them up around 3:00-3:30. If anybody wants to join me you are more then welcome. I will not be going out of the bay just around Lawsons Landing. I have crabbed from the pier but not yet from the yak so I am not a pro at this. If you want to hang out out then the more the marrier.

I will be in a Blue Cobra Navigator and will be using to boxes and will put one box on the pier while I am out.

Not sure if I read this right, but please correct me if i'm wrong.  Your going out crabbing in Tomales bay for your first time on a kayak, or first time in Tomales?

I am taking it out for the first time in tomales. I just got the kayak today and took it out on the water here in Suisun. I have kayaked before, I don't plan on going out of the bay, just out in front of lawsons landing.

Hey vwool, Welcome. I wish i could join you tomorrow. Tomales bay is a prettty special place. I recently did a real cool paddle/hike from Lawsons. i paddled almost directly across the bay to blue gum beach (the one with the big eucalyptas trees). Then i parked my yak and hiked up to the ridge where i met up with the ridge trail. I hiked the ridge trail north to the tip of the peninsula. It was super scenic. i highly reccomend bringing an i-pod,a bottle of zinfandel and some snacks. Have fun and happy crabbin'.

p.s. put some weight in your crabpots so the current doesn't take'em.
