My bud Matt and I will be launching (with his new boat) on Dry Creek in Rio Linda and dragging catfish bait down Dry Creek to the NEMDC and on to Disco at the boat launch.

This is a shuttle run trip.  we will be leaving a vehicle at Disco at 7:00 and shuttling up to Rio Linda from there.

I know this sounds silly, but how often is the weather right for this sort of exploration to places where NO ONE ELSE goes...  places with big cats, big bass, and big strippers.....all in very small water  :)  Perfection really....

Company Welcome on this killer birthday trip for Matt.
but I think the max we can handle is 4 more.....

Jim

You guys are nuts!

I'm almost glad my yak isn't suited for that trip.

Beware of the beavers.

You might run across some interesting river people near the Garden Hwy and Northgate.

Have fun,
Al

I have a history with the folks that live along that waterway. (Former Sac County Park Ranger before layoffs)

I know it pretty well and am amazed that you are going to attempt to kayak it.

Between the beaver dams, strainers, homeless, drug dealing gang members and toxic runoff from McClellan, it should be exciting.

I hope you guys have fun, I'll look forward to seeing pictures.

no we have not.  Matt also lives in Rio Linda and rides the trail quite often.  we have been talking about this for years and apparently the water is just right at the moment  :)

you gonna join us?  I think you should   :smt004

we might launch further up, at the golf course, still to be finalized  :)

This is the put in spot. Water was flowing fairly well. About 20' wide at this point. I'll try to get more pics downstream in the AM.
