I spent most of last night looking at the pics of the Fort Ross, Shelter Cove and Jenner area. I went out first thing this morning looking for more waterproof clothing. Instead of doing work, I'm about to go to CL to fantasize about buying my own yak. Now, I'm about to beg. Is this how the "yak sickness" starts?  :smt009
So, here comes the begging: Someone please invite me out to fish the areas mentioned above. Please. I promise not to sink your yak, or drown, or ask stupid questions or borrow a rod, or steal your bait or lures. If ya don't like to talk, I'll shut up. If ya do like to talk, I'll be a chatter box.
I know how to fish; I promise not to slow your day, too much. I'll pay for gas or lunch or drinks. I'll provide ya with a fresh striper. I gotta experience that area from a yak, even if it only makes me sicker by day's end. Anyway, my grovel is over,,,,,Please,,,,,please...shoot....
I'm just messin guys, but if anyone ever does want some company, let me know, got a lot of freetime.
Thanks,
David

Woahhhhh there buddy.  Yep, you got the sickness alright  :smt044  Sorry to burst yer bubble, but your gonna have to wait (like the rest of us) until the season opens  :smt002  Hopefully you can get a yak by then!  There is a nice T15 up for sale in the classifieds.  :smt004  You also need to think about starting somewhere simple, or take a class.  The MBK classes should be starting up soon!

I like how you sell yourself bro. :smt005 Seriously, you'll have
plenty of offers once the rockfish season opens. When I have
a free time to fish, I'll call you myself to fish with me one of
these day. Just show up with you rod and reel. BTW, how tall
are you and your weight? Just so everybody knows if they
may have something in your size.

I takes more than a kayak when your in the ocean. Don't forget the wetsuit, PFD, and any other necessary equipment to keep you safe.

Thanks guys and I'm feeling like it might be a little too late to slow this ship down. I've already bought a shorty wetsuit, waterproof pants, waterproof jacket, neoprene gloves and waterproof coveralls. I'm getting what I can, so the wife doesn't see the bills, not taking any money out of a baby's mouth.
I know the seasons won't open for a few more days still, which is a good thing, so I can get a few more things....aahhhh. But I just can't spend the big bucks right now and I'm not even sure what to buy, in terms of a yak. I've been out once in one, felt comfortable, but didn't fish. I used to surf a lot and have paddled and fished from a canoe throughout Rich. bay, since I was 12 years-old. I'm a little guy; you'll hardly know I'm there; a small swell will hide me: 5'5" a buck fiddy, but can pull my own weight plus some.
Anyway, I know that I'm pushing this and, honestly, just that you guys are entertaining my desire to go is really nice and not going unappreciated. Big thanks! And looking foreward to spending time learning from you guys and fishing with ya.

Season doesn't open in those location till June 14th so you have a lot of time to get setup. I have an extra that you could use sometime since I love those locaitons.

You've definitely got the madness, David!   :smt001  Sign up for GS5, get some instruction and time on the ocean, and meet me at Shelter Cove (Humboldt County) on Friday the 13th of May.  We'll have a safety seminar that evening along with scores of warm introductions and happy reunions.  If all goes as planned, we'll have our tournament on Saturday and a potluck afterward where a new Trident 13 and many other nice prizes are earned - we may have to hold the tournament on Sunday, as the opener is somewhat 'up in the air'...  Many of us are hanging for the entire weekend plus a day or two on either end, and there is diving, family time, and lots of other fun to be had.

Personally, I've been so thrilled by meeting new people and collaborating on hookups such as the one I've described, that I'd welcome you on my team of paddlers on tournament day.  We're planning to launch just before dawn and finish just before noon.

I hope to see you there, and if you don't make it, I look forward to hearing about your progression into your new obsession!   :smt003

New List:
1. Self-medicate heavily. The season doesn't start for months.
2. Don't out-fish Sincoast. Yea, like I could, even if I wasn't drooling all over myself from all the medication.
3. Find out what the hell GS5 is, and as long as it's not PETA, the KKK or some radical religious group,,,,sign up!
4. Make a quick trip to north africa and the middle east to convince them to stop fighting so the price of oil will go down.
5. Begin detox from all the meds.
6. Now that I can afford gas, and figure out how to put it in my car, after detoxing, drive up to Shelter cove on may 13th
7. Make sure Sin-Coast can't go: Find out where he lives and release all air from his car tires, so I don't have to worry about out fishing him.
8. Convince everyone to have the potluck the night before the tournament. Spike it with all my left over meds.
9. Win the tournamen while everyone else is sound asleep,  and be the proud parent of a new yak. Yea, Okay.
10. Tell everyone, "Big Thanks you guys; this is gonna be a blast and I think a real turning point or marker in my life. Seriously.
