All right guys, I got the hall pass to come out and play on Saturday and so did my buddy Tom to row front.  As I've not yet had the pleasure of fishing SP with you all, please bear with the newbie questions.  Where?  How get there?  When?  Local bait shop and open when?

Who all is going?

launch between china camp and buck,s[san pedro exit off 101]. loch lomond bait in the loch lomond harbor[1st st exit central san rafael]. but the most important part is your anchor. the tide is very swift and your anchor rope must come off on end of your kayak, preferrably the stern. if you endup crossways in the current your anchor will not hold.

Thanks CP.  I think I got the anchor part down, but you reminded me that I need to get a new float.  The one and only time I was out for sturgeon in the south bay (Alviso) the float I had immediately dove underwater when I release the anchor.  Not to worry though, it came back up when the tide slowed.

OK.  So where is the honey hole?   Unfortunately I left my GPS up in Seattle.  Who can lead us to the promised land?

Allen - might be a tough landing for you if there is a minus tide - your triple kayak may bottom out sooner than most of the lighter kayaks. Just something to think about.

Good luck out there!

Thanks for the warning Mooch.  There is a minus tide, but we most likely wont stay through the bottom of it.

I got the spot marked on my GPS, but I don't know where or when I'm launching.

Only launch I'm familiar with is Buck's, but the other launch near China Camp sounds like it might be the best bet. I have no idea exactly where the launch is, though, so I'm going to have to meet up with somebody who does. Hopefully folks that are going will post what time they plan on launching and where.

I kinda want to pull an all-dayer, but I guess it depends on who launches from where, and when.

Only thing I do know right now is that I'm catching either a keeper sturgeon or a gangster striper!  :smt003

So who's going?  China Camp? 8:00-ish launch, at least some time before the tide change?

Hmmm ... I was thinking the tide change was at 9.  I guess we'll come a little later too and sleep in a bit.

Paddle should be much easier from china camp area than bucks (you have to fight the tides from bucks, and go with them from china camp.  Keep in mind that arriving at 9 usually means starting to paddle around 10 - especially if joel's chasing everyone with a banana.  ;)  I've got my sturgeon hole marked on my gps, so I'll have no problem finding it.

BTW, the triple should run the shallowest of all the boats, not the deepest, since it's way under it's weight capacity with only one or two people on it.
