Anyone game for this week-end?

Looks like a mud landing no matter what.

No call for rain, yet.  :smt001

Sweet.

Tides are good for Friday after-work shrimp pumping, too.  :smt007

I'm going to be in SF for training this week and I might just swing by Alameda on the way back on Thursday and pump some.  We'll see.

Hey Guys,

Just as an experiment I went to the Bullhead flat (China Camp) launch yesterday at peak low 0.9.  Turns out that it was not the mudfest that I thought, there is a small spit of rocks that is exposed- you still have water only about 6" deep for about 10 yds, but then it drops off to 2 feet.

No hits, no runs, no errors for my 4 hours....

Is it do-able without a cart?

So did you launch and paddle right out of the launch at Bullhead flats or did you have to go around to the rocky point to launch?

Here's a link to a google map... is that little dark channel the one you paddled out of?

Dustin, Its doable without a cart, when Red and I landed at a minus tide we landed to the left of the mud beach and took turns carrying are yaks over some small rocks.  I think with a few minutes work that little walk could be cleared of some of the rocks making it easier to walk out.  I find it hard to see when at the back of the yak carrying.  One more thing, they are closing the gate there at or around 500.  There are no drive spikes. ill be heading out 9 or 10, out of bullhead flats. i think even at minus low all you have is a walk over rocks, and theres a shower at the parking lot for gear.
i think making a path is a great idea -then its just a short cart.

I would definitely join the hunting team if I do not have the scheduled ski trip to Tahoe on this weekend (remember WFP). Good luck to everyone going.

Sorry for the late reply-- I launched straight out of bullhead flat.  That little spit of rock runs about 15 feet north of the "official" launch.
I was actually quite suprised that i could get out as easily as i did-- as soon as you launch head SE (toward rat rock) as the water deepens faster in that direction.
Also found a good marker of depth for landing- there are some 2-3 foot high boulders just off the "official" launch- once the water hits the base of these, you must use the little spit.
